Principal's Welcome

A Warm Welcome From Our Principal

At Oakdene Primary Academy, we begin caring for your child as soon as your family walks through the door. We believe that each step of your child’s education is as important as the one before. With this in mind, we continue to provide inspiring and memorable learning experiences throughout their learning journey.

We recognise that children learn in different ways, that they learn best when their emotions are engaged and that learning should be fun, creative and relevant. Our outstanding curriculum provides a wealth of stimulating learning opportunities that are underpinned by key basic skills – truly a winning formula and a clear pathway to future success.

Our School Mission

The Framework for Excellence is at the heart of everything we do.

At Oakdene we seek to improve the life chances of all our children, young people and staff. Our ethos is governed by the Rights Respecting Schools Sustaining Gold Framework, the Framework for Excellence and Core values.

Our school continues to explicitly adopt a child rights approach based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and sustainably embeds it in school policy, practice and culture. Children’s, young people’s and adults’ level of understanding of rights remains high, and there are processes in place to ensure new members of our school community have this understanding as well. Rights Respecting attitudes and language are embedded across the school.

Our Curriculum

At Oakdene Primary Academy every child is recognised as a unique individual. The ability to learn is underpinned by the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts and values with a vision to prepare them for life beyond primary school. We believe that childhood should be a happy, investigative and enquiring time in our lives, where there are no limits to curiosity and there is a thirst for new experiences and knowledge.

We use our values to promote positive attitudes to learning which reflect the values and morality needed to promote responsibility for learning and future success. Our aspirational curriculum promotes high expectations across all subjects and key stages, and addresses the vast range of social disadvantages our children face.
